Winter schools at ETU: professional knowledge and vivid impressions

Five winter schools started at St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI" for the first time, where 75 students from 29 countries take part.

On January 21, classes began on five winter schools of technical and humanities areas, which will enable students to gain and improve the knowledge necessary to build a successful career, as well as to get acquainted with Russian culture and history. 75 students from Afghanistan, Algeria, Argentina, Bangladesh, Belgium, Côte d'Ivoire, Ecuador, Egypt, Germany, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Libya, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Peru, Russia, Spain, Syria, Tanzania, Tunisia, and USA took part in the schools.
“The university holds winter and summer schools so that students from different countries can get acquainted with education in St. Petersburg and ETU. The two-week courses allow participants to determine how interested they are in continuing their studies at the university in a chosen area and whether they can further adapt to the conditions of life in Russia. Seasonal schools help us to attract international students to enter ETU for master's programs in English and Russian languages.”
Within two weeks, participants of the Biomedical Engineering school will be able to deepen their knowledge of biomedical engineering, computer analysis of biomedical signals, the use of electronics and robots in biomedical engineering, the use of modern biotech systems and technologies in prosthetics and rehabilitation.
The Mechatronics and Robotics winter school, where the emphasis is placed on practical and laboratory classes, will allow international students to develop knowledge in such technical science sections as mechatronics, programming, electrical engineering, as well as learn how to develop hardware and software systems and motion control systems.
The Laser and Optical Measurements program will allow participants to deepen their knowledge of the laser application in metrology and measurement technology.
The participants of the Intercultural Communication in Business school will get acquainted with the basics of intercultural communication, gain the knowledge and skills necessary to work in international companies in the context of globalization.
The winter school called "Gems of Russian Culture in Russian Language" attracted international citizens interested in Russian culture and seeking to master the Russian language. The educational program is aimed at learning the Russian language through active immersion in the cultural and historical context, studying the history of Russia and its culture.
Participants in winter schools will be able to combine the acquisition of professional skills with a cultural program. Guests will enjoy a sightseeing tour of St. Petersburg, a visit to the Hermitage, Peter and Paul Fortress, as well as walks through the suburbs.

Therefore, I am sure that the students who came to ETU from different parts of the world will enjoy interesting activities. You will not be bored in your free time either - we have prepared an extensive cultural program. Beautiful snowy winter, sightseeing in St. Petersburg, playing snowballs and skating will be a little adventure for the students and give a lot of emotions and new impressions.”
Winter schools at ETU will end on February 1 with a solemn certificate presentation ceremony.
The organizers of the seasonal schools that ETU conducts for the first time in the winter are the International Student Office and the Preparatory Department for International Students. The curriculum includes the departments of Bioengineering Systems, Automatic Control Systems, Laser Measurement and Navigation Systems, Foreign Languages, and Russian Language.
Seasonal schools are aimed at promoting the English-taught programs of Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI" and attracting students from leading universities of the world to the university.
