On August 18th Youth House of St. Petersburg in association with members of the search group "Raid" and employees of St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University "LETI" held a volunteer clean-up at the former reserve command post of the Baltic Fleet, which played a significant role in the defense of Leningrad during World War II.

The underground control center named after Admiral Vladimir F. Tributs situated on Aptekarsky island was built in spring 1942 and was an integral part of the Headquarter of the Baltic Fleet which was located during the war in the buildings of "LETI". After the war the bunker became an object of civil defense. After the perestroika it came into a deplorable state. There is a lot of rubbish, trees and weeds. Evgeniy Peters, commander of the search group «Raid», said: « It’s much worse inside the bunker. I hardly realized that this is the object of civil defense. Some floors are destroyed, the equipment and furniture are a total loss». In this regard, even question of elimination of the bunker was raised.

During the work day participants cleaned the territory of the bunker from different rubbish and weeds so it looks better now. The next steps are banking of those places where ground is settled, painting of metal structures and rehabilitation works inside the bunker.

On the eve of the 70th anniversary of Victory the Committee for State Control, Use and Protection of Monuments of History and Culture of the Government of St. Petersburg legalized the existence of this bunker in the city and took it under the state protection. Now it has the status of the object of cultural heritage of regional importance, which ensures it preservation in present form.
