On August 31, the fifth edition of the Moscow International University Ranking "Three Missions of a University" (MosIUR) was presented during the public meeting of the Council of the Russian Union of Rectors.

"This independent ranking allows us to give a compact, meaningful and vivid picture of the activity of a particular university and its competitive position. The study reflects modern trends in higher education development, which considers not only the traditional functions of the university but also emphasizes their social role," commented Dmitry Afanasyev, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI" rose by two bands compared to last year – from band 701-800 to band 601-650. Among Russian universities, LETI moved up from 28th to 23rd position.

In the Education section, the university showed a high result in the Share of International Students metric (over 20%), confirming the university attractiveness for students from other countries. The positive dynamics in the University and Society section also contributed to the growth of LETI's position in the overall standings. The number of mass open online courses of LETI featured on major Russian and international platforms increased. The number of subscribers to the LETI's official pages in VK, Facebook, and Twitter also has risen, as well as the Internet audience and the number of pages on the university's website.

"The Three University Missions international ranking is a helpful tool for evaluating the success of universities not only in education and science but also in their impact on society. In contrast to well-known analogs, only official data are used to compile the ranking, including public reports of universities. Reputation surveys are completely excluded. In our opinion, this significantly increases the objectivity of the assessment."

Viktor Sheludko, Rector of ETU "LETI"

A total of 1,650 universities from 97 countries were listed in the MosIUR 2021 ranking. The winner was Harvard University (USA). The second place went to MIT (USA), the third to Cambridge University (UK).
