Сoncert of LETI Academic Choir was held on 24 May at State Academic Chapel within the framework of "Spring at LETI".

Two-hour program included performance of creations of famous composers on favorite poems of Russian and Belarusian authors. Bright part of the performance were German, Georgian and Filipino folk songs. Performance of English folk song «Sing a song of six pence» in adaptation of British composer John Rutter made a furor.

24 May is a special day for LETI Academic Choir and its fans, because on this concert the team presented their first album!

"The hardest thing in creaion of the disc was to find money. We had been thinking about it for several years, but only due to the victory in the competition in Poland we found such a possibility. Favorite works of choristers and our fans - the "golden fund" of the choir's repertoire is recorded on this disk. We have been collecting it for many, many years! Of course it was hard to work, as this is our first experience, but it was very interesting! Thanks to our sound engineer Vadim Pchyolkin we had fascinating creative process. This year our concert season is over, but there are a lot of plans for next season by now,"- says art director and conductor of the choir Elena L. Kasyanova.

As everyone knows, last year LETI Academic Choir took part in the 48th International Choral Festival, which was held from 23 to 28 June in Miedzyzdroy (Poland). Choristers won award and grand prize in the category "Sacred music", gold award in the nomination "Modern Music", got the Grand Prix of the festival and a special award of Frederic Chopin Music University Rector. In gratitude for cooperation founder of Boys Choir of St. Petersburg and a good friend of collective Vadim Pchyolkin was awarded on the stage of the chapel. Anyone could buy the Disk of Academic Choir between the acts.

Academic Choir has long history and has already toured for 57 seasons. The choir is replenished by our students and by students from other universities from time to time. Among choristers one can see representatives of old generation, who has performed not for one decade.

"I learned about LETI Choir a year ago when I was entrant. Once the academic year began, I came to the first rehearsal of the season. There is warm friendly atmosphere in the Choir, the rehearsal process does not seem boring. That is merit of our conductor Elena Kasyanova and choirmasters Dmitry Stepanenko and Nadezhda Mikheyeva,"- says team member, 1st year student of Faculty of Industrial Automation and Electrical Engineering Daniil Zinchenko.

Academic Choir of LETI is the only Choir of St. Petersburg, whose program is performed entirely a cappella. Having wealth of sounds, it won't leave anyone indifferent.

"Once I was at a concert of the Choir here, in the chapel. Then the choir celebrated its anniversary, the best soloists performed, LETI Rector gave his congratulatory speech. After such scale I was sure that nothing could surprise my amateur unmusical ear. But this time I discovered something new in choral singing that pleased me,"- says Choir fan, 2nd year student of Faculty of Industrial Automation and Electrical Engineering, Gennady Lobov.

2nd year student of Faculty of humanities Julia Soldatova was also delighted with the concert: "The works of the first act sounded like one, they were very beautiful and well combined  between each other.  One can’t but note complexity and purity of execution of each piece."
