How the pandemic has changed the world: ETU

Participants in an online exchange project organized by ETU "LETI" and Ritsumeikan University (Japan) will discuss the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on society and the labor market.

On June 18, the online student exchange project organized by ETU "LETI" and Ritsumeikan University (Kyoto, Japan) entitled COVID-19: Current Impact and Future Workplace will start. The project involves 10 students from each university.

The organizers aim to encourage all the students to keep motived in learning even when the COVID-19 pandemic hampers all to travel and research overseas physically. The project participants will discuss the impact of COVID-19 towards society and industry of their countries, collaboratively analyze the current impact of COVID-19 in different countries, consider how life will change after the end of the pandemic or if it continues, and discuss what’s happening in job-hunting and workplaces in both communities.

On June 18, the participants will listen to introductory lectures, get acquainted with each other, and receive the topics of presentations, which they will prepare in one of 5 groups for the next session. On June 25, students will present group presentations and summarize the project. The result of their work will be mini-papers, which they will have to finish by July 2.

The facilitators of the program are Maria Kiseleva, Head of the International Academic Mobility Department of ETU "LETI," and Shizuyo Asai, Overseas Education Coordinator at Ritsumeikan University.

ETU "LETI" and Ritzumeykan University, together with the three largest universities in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, are part of a consortium that hosts the Joint Workshop for Global Engineers in Asia and Beyond. The event aims to establish connections and develop joint research projects between employees, researchers, and students of five universities.

Representatives of ETU "LETI" and Ritzumeykan University have concluded an agreement on cooperation between universities, which provides for academic exchanges of teachers and students, organization of joint topical schools and workshops, scientific conferences, joint supervision of postgraduate students.
