Times Higher Education has released THE World University Rankings by Computer Science and Engineering & Technology subjects on November 29.

St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University “LETI” entered the 501-600 group in Computer Science subject ranking. This year, other seven universities participating in the Project 5-100 took a position in the subject rankings for the first time along with ETU: NSU, HSE, Samara University, SPbPU, TSU, TPU, and UrFU. 16 Russian universities are represented in the Computer Science subject ranking in total.

St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI" placed in the 601-800 group in the Engineering and Technology subject ranking. HSE, FEFU, Lobachevsky University, SIBFU, and UrFU have also debuted in the ranking this year. Russia is home to 28 universities in the ranking, 15 of them are Project 5-100 universities.

“The strong point of our university in THE rankings is the income from research commissioned by industrial enterprises, also known as knowledge transfer. The university received 57 points for it in the Engineering and Technology ranking, which indicates the demand for advanced developments of ETU engineers on the modern high-tech market. A high score for citation rate of high school publications in Scopus was also the key to success in the Computer Science ranking. It is an illustration of the importance of ETU not only as an engineering university with strong traditions but also as a modern research center, that employs authoritative experts in the fields of information security, software engineering, and automatic control systems. In general, getting into subject rankings entails boosting the reputation of the university and is a good incentive for further development.”

Viktor Sheludko, Rector of St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI"

St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI" also entered the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for the first time in 2018, placing in 1001+ group.

For reference

The Computer Science and Engineering & Technology rankings became the last ones of 11 Times Higher Education subject rankings published this year.

The same 13 indicators are used in drawing up subject rankings as in the World University Rankings, grouped in five areas: teaching, research, citations, industry income, and international outlook. At the same time, these indicators have a different weight to take into account the specifics of research areas.
