Building up contacts: ETU "LETI" at the largest educational exhibition in Europe

ETU “LETI” took part in the 31st conference and exhibition of the European Association of International Education in Helsinki.

At the end of September, the 31st Conference and Exhibition of the European Association for International Education (EAIE) took place in Helsinki. Representatives of international offices and departments of universities, as well as world recruiting and brand agencies, took part in the event. The theme of this year's conference "encompassing all voices" was devoted to inclusivity in education.
18 leading universities, which take part in the Project 5-100, including St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI" were presented at the joined Russian stand.
Anastasia Minina, Vice-Rector for International Affairs at ETU "LETI," and Maria Kiseleva, Director of the Academic Mobility Department, represented the university at the main event of higher education in Europe. The focus was mostly placed on Master’s programs in English, winter and summer schools, academic mobility programs.
The ETU "LETI" delegation was engaged in building new international connections and strengthening the existing ties, exchanging contacts, and discussing perspectives of possible inter-university cooperation. During the event, 48 meetings took place with representatives of various world universities from Bangladesh, Belgium, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Romania, Senegal, Switzerland, Taiwan, and Turkey.
Representatives of French universities - Télécom Paris, University of Paris-Sud, INSA Rouen Normandie, and others - showed great interest in cooperating with ETU "LETI." The key areas in cooperation with them will be the expansion of the academic exchange program in the field of radio engineering, telecommunications, and computer technology, as well as the development of partnerships within the Erasmus+ program.
As a result of the meetings, ETU "LETI" representatives negotiated the signing of an agreement on cooperation and student exchange with the Technical University of Dortmund and the Technical University of Braunschweig. During the exhibition, ETU "LETI" and several of its partner universities from Germany also outlined ways to expand further cooperation.
ETU "LETI" Partners Day helped to establish new connections with Taiwanese universities. As a result of the event in Saint Petersburg, representatives of the international departments of Taiwanese universities recommended ETU "LETI" to colleagues from their country as a high-quality and reliable partner. “Those impressions that the colleague had at Partner Day allowed building up contacts in their regions,” Maria Kiseleva noted.
At a meeting with the Japanese Ritsumeikan University, parties planned a Joint Workshop on Global Engineering in Asia and Beyond, which will take place at ETU "LETI" in July 2020.
“Participation in the exhibition of the European Association of International Education is an important event for ETU “LETI,” both in terms of attracting international students and lecturers to the university, and in terms of developing joint research with foreign universities. These indicators are very important in world university rankings, promotion in which is one of the priorities of our university.”
The conference and exhibition of the European Association of International Education is one of the world's largest professional forums in the field of international higher education. In 2019, more than 6,200 participants from 95 countries visited the exhibition. Next year the exhibition will take place in Barcelona.
