Our university is located in the historic center of Saint Petersburg. St. Petersburg is a city and a federal subject of Russia. It is located on the Neva River at the head of the Gulf of Finland on the Baltic Sea. St. Petersburg is the northernmost among the cities of the world with over one million people, about 5 million people live here. St. Petersburg is the most Western and beautiful city.
Our city was founded in 1703 bу Реtег the Great as a new capital of Russia. Today St. Petersburg is considered to be the cultural capital of Russia. St. Petersburg plays a significant role in Russian history and culture of 18th-20th centuries being a place where many world-known musicians, painters, singers, writers, actors, architects and scientists lived and worked. The architecture of our city is often described as "music hardened in stone". The Historic Centre of St. Petersburg and Related Groups of Monuments constitute a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The "Hermitage", one of the largest art museums in the world, the Kirov Ballet are located in St. Petersburg. The city has 221 museums, 2000 libraries, more than 80 theaters, 100 concert organizations, 45 galleries and exhibition halls, 62 cinemas, and around 80 other cultural establishments. Every year the city hosts around 100 festivals and various competitions of art and culture, including more than 50 international ones.
Saint Petersburg is a major trade gateway, cultural, educational, and financial center of Russia.
Our city is multinational, multiconfessional. Its tolerant attitude to other cultures is a peculiarity of Saint Petersburg.

Today St. Petersburg is one of the biggest industrial centers in Europe. Thousands enterprises of electronic engineering, power engineering, ship building, mechanic engineering, electro-technical industry work in our city.
St. Petersburg is the biggest scientific center of Russia. There are more than 70 universities here. Every seventh Russian researcher works in institutions of science and education in St. Petersburg.
