Times Higher Education (Times, THE) – World University Rankings is an annual publication of university rankings by Times Higher Education (THE) magazine. It is the only global university performance table to judge research-intensive universities across all of their core missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. THE rankings use 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons, trusted by students, academics, university leaders, industry and governments.

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) – one of the most respected world University rankings. Founded by the eponymous British consulting company on education and training abroad. Global ranking evaluates universities in terms of the quality of teaching, active research activities, internationalization and career potential, and some others. Ratings are published annually for more than 2.5 thousand universities around the world and can be divided into national, regional, by subject and other.

The U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings focuses on the University's academic research and global reputation. The analysis uses 13 indicators that measure the effectiveness of academic research based on data taken from Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters) and the Web of Science database.

Webometrics – is a ranking system for the world's Universities based on a composite indicator that takes into account both the volume of the web contents, the visibility and impact of these web publications according to the number of external inlinks. The ranking is published twice a year by the Cybermetrics Lab., a research group of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).

SCImago Institutions Rankings – is a science evaluation resource to assess worldwide universities and research-focused institutions. The ranking tools and reports measure research activity of worldwide institutions having noteworthy scientific output, including universities and research labs.

The National Aggregate Ranking is an aggregator of generally recognized Russian rankings. The methodology is based on 8 rankings that meet the requirements of publicity (full information is available in the public domain), stability (there are at least three years), mass (at least 100 universities are evaluated) and periodicity (evaluation is carried out annually).

"Three missions of the University" – is an international ranking of universities established by the Russian Union of rectors. Education, science and interaction with society are evaluated. Evaluation criteria are based on objective data, reputation surveys are not used. The initiative to create the rating is supported by leading universities in Russia, China, India, Iran, Turkey, and Japan.

Round University Ranking (RUR Ranking) – international Ranking of universities, published by the Russian rating Agency RUR Agency since 2010. The rating is 750 leading universities in the world, including 91 of the universities of the BRICS countries. The data collected in the study "Global Institutional Profiles Project" (GIPP) of the company Thomson Reuters.

With the head office located in Moscow, RAEX (Expert RA) is considered a premier Russian rating agency working on a global scale with 20 years of experience. RAEX is a market leader in ratings and survey-communication activity. The company is also included in the list of credit rating agencies of the Bank of Russia. The Agency has published more than 800 individual ratings, over 45% of the total number of assigned ratings in Russia. Besides ranking the educational institutions, RAEX examines and rates banks, insurance and leasing companies, non-state pension funds, microfinancial organisations, guarantee funds, and non-financial companies.

Assessment of the ability of Universities to provide students with the necessary knowledge, the participation of educational institutions in research activities and career opportunities for graduates.
