Research Opportunities
Study and research are carried out at the modern electronic laboratory ProLab CDIO. CDIO is an innovative education platform for producing next-generation engineers. It is a teaching structure for students to master the basics of engineering and technology as a part of the Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate (CDIO) chain for developing real-world systems and products.
Teaching Laboratories:
- Medical Systems (equipped with modern medical instrument)
- Computational Modeling of Biological and Bioengineering Systems;
- Electronics and Microprocessor Engineering;
- Display room (equipped with National Instruments work stations and visual programming tools).
Research Laboratories:
- Mathematical Methods and Computer-Aided Systems for Processing and Analysis of Biomedical Data;
- Bioengineering Measurement Computing Systems;
- Human Health Assessment Methods and Systems.
- Master’s students enrolled at the branch department Medical Information and Bioengineering Systems conduct research and attend practice-oriented classes at the Almazov National Medical Research Center, Biomechanics Laboratory and the Albrecht National Research Center for Prosthetics and Rehabilitation.
Areas of Research
- Research and development of telemedicine systems for early diagnosis and patient monitoring.
- Intelligent data processing (ECG, EEG, Respiratory waves), including preprocessing, pattern recognition and inference methods.
- Development of new algorithms and software for intelligent diagnosis and long-term patient monitoring.
Additional Educational Opportunities
Winter and Summer Schools
To support the students, the Department holds summer and winter schools. Laboratory classes and practical sessions help students understand how the mobile apps for biomedical devices are developed and how the main scientific principles are applied in this area.
Online courses
In 2018, professors from the Bioengineering Systems Department uploaded a new course in English entitled as The Development of Mobile Health Monitoring Systems to the online education platform Coursera. The course is aimed at teaching students to apply their knowledge on a variety of different topics – electronics, programming, mathematics – in medical device hardware and software development. If the students are interested in taking the course they can register at Coursera.
PhD in English
Continue your research and build your career with ETU “LETI”! Master’s program graduates can continue their study at the Post-Graduate level.
Career Opportunities
Program graduates are successful the field of practical healthcare. They are invited to work at large healthcare centers (hospitals, large clinics, diagnostic centers, medical examination centers for people with disabilities) where they build successful careers. They support and upgrade health monitoring and chronic disease control information and measurement systems, develop and support medical devices and equipment.
The department cooperates with Almazov National Medical Research Center, National Research Institute for Experimental Medicine and Albrecht National Research Center for Medical Rehabilitation.
