The Department of Theoretical Fundamentals of Radio Engineering was founded in 1925.
Fields of study:
- 11.03.01, 11.04.01 Radio Engineering;
- 11.03.02 Infocommunication Technologies and Communication Systems;
- 11.03.03 Design and Technology of Electronic Systems.
Disciplines of training include selected sections of classical electrodynamics, quantum electronics – topics close to radiophysics; theory of microwave circuits and systems, microwave technology, optical communication, functional processors, antenna devices of telecommunications systems, personal telecommunication service and mobile communications, telecommunication systems, and information networks – the range of these disciplines provides fundamental training in the field of telecommunications.
The department's laboratories are equipped with microwave radio measuring equipment, antennas and microwave devices, and elements of cellular systems. Microwave ranges – ultrahigh frequencies – are being intensively researched in the development of household, television, and telecommunications radio equipment.
