Department of Russian Language

In 1965, the Department of the Russian Language was established at ETU "LETI." It became independent from the Department of Foreign Languages.

For more than 50 years, teachers of the department have been carrying out considerable and fruitful work in teaching the Russian language to international students from Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America.

The department has established close ties with universities in Vietnam and China. Foreign graduates not only learned Russian and wrote their theses in Russian but also Ph.D. and even doctoral dissertations. They became acquainted with Russian culture and fell in love with St. Petersburg and Russia. More than 2,000 foreign specialists have learned Russian at the department.

On March 1, 1995, the Department of Russian Language became part of the Faculty of Humanities. It allowed teaching Russian not only to international students. Professors develop new courses for Russian students of all areas and specializations of the university. The department developed courses in modern Russian language, stylistics and editing, history of Russian literature for students of the Faculty of Humanities, business Russian language course for all engineering faculties. For the students of all faculties, there is the course "Russian language. Culture of Speech."

Since 2000, the Department of Russian Language at ETU "LETI" has been a member of the Russian Society of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature. Professors of the department participate in conferences and seminars organized by the society.
